Peter Shelley

Author of Tight Spot.

Peter began writing plays in 1991, and graduated from the Playwrights Studio of the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in 1995. He has had eight productions of short plays staged in Sydney, five of which he directed himself. Peter has also had two of his one act plays produced, 'Any Port in a Storm', and 'See You in Hell', the latter which he directed.

Additionally, Peter is the author of 'Grande Dame Guignol Cinema' which is being published by McFarland Publishing Company in late 2009. This is a scholarly reference work about a sub-genre of horror films in which older women (Grandes Dames) are featured as morally ambiguous leading ladies. Peter is currently working on his second non-fiction film book.

'Tight Spot' premiered at Short + Sweet in Sydney in 2007. Peter directed the play then, and again for the Sydney rehearsals of the current production, for which he also provided the original soundtrack.
